I have so much kale on the farm these days it is crazy! So this morning before I headed off to the microbial research lab I threw a quick smoothie together that I drank on my way to work. I must say I was impressed and wanted to share it with you all.
This morning I craved some sweetness and chocolate. So I decided to make a healthy compromise. Rather than indulging in high processed sugars that all cereals and granola mixes have in the store, I whipped up this easy plant-based breakfast that has the guilty chocolate sweetness, but all with wholesome gut-friendly ingredients.

Farm Fresh Kale and Cacao Smoothie
1 c. Fresh Kale
1 c. Frozen peeled apple slices
1/2 c. frozen blueberries
1/2 c. frozen strawberries
1 Tbl ground flax seed
1 tsp organic cacao powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 Tbl local organic honey
1 c. organic soymilk
Blend all together until smooth. Makes 1-2 servings.
Pour into your favorite drinking receptacle and enjoy :)
